Purbrook CC v Purbrook U15s 17 August 2001.

Purrook U15s took on a star-studded Purbrook adult XI at the Heath on Friday.

The adults batted first and started brightly before Sean Figgins removed Kevin Palmer for 5 and Tom Jones removed Peter Mill for 10.

Ricky McIntosh struck a hard-hitting 48 but at the other end, Carl Marsh, Steve Dixon (11), Charlie Jackson (5), Mark Hamson and David May all came and went. The wicket-takers were Aaron Dean, Matt Dixon, Ben Thomas and Tom Pasterfield.

The adults eventually reached 110 for 8.

When the U15s reply started, Chris Berry bowled Sean Figgins and Duncan Garland ran out Ben Thomas. Then Tom Jones got settled and struck 30 before being caught off Charlie Jackson's bowling.

Jack Hamson anchored the innings while Ben Jones slogged 27 not out at the other end.

Nobody really knows what happened next because it all got a bit dark. Rumour has it that Mark Hamson bowled his first ever over, David May his first since school and Ricky McIntosh his last ever over. Who knows if these sightings will ever be verified.

After 17 overs, with the colts on 77 for 3 in the pich black, everybody adjourned to the clubhouse.
