Sarisbury v Purbrook 3 June 1991

Purbrook U13 Colts take their third win in a row.

Sarisbury put Purbrook into bat. From the start of his innings, Tom Jones batted with confidence, with good shots to the boundary and an excellent hook for six! Good running between the wickets from the opening pair coupled with misfielding by Sarisbury, pushed the Purbrook score along at a rate of 10 an over. Number two Middleton had another good innings. Jones retired on 26, in came Bennett. Bennett did not find the form of last week and was bowled going for the big shot. Fourth man Thomas; looking to improve on his recent form played a fine roll as anchor to retire on 26. Colban, the U 12 all rounder was run out before he could settle into the attack. Harrison knocked out a couple of quick fours before being bowled. Budd and Marsh batted out the innings for Purbrook. Before being run out on the last ball, Budd had moved into double figures for the first time in his career. Purbrook 136 for 5 wickets.

Sarisbury knew they had their work cut out from the start of their innings. The Purbrook fielding was tight, but the early batsmen pushed the score along at 7 an over. Middleton took a fine catch to start the fall of the wickets. A fine innings of 25 from the fourth batsman gave Sarisbury hope. Purbrook had put down four catches in the field. Then an inspired decision by Jones the Purbrook captain saw the run rate slow with the use of the spinners. Sarisbury 105 for 6 wickets.

A good team effort gave Purbrook their third win a row.
