Purbrook v South Wilts 17 June 2001

As a small consolation for all Saturday's games bering rained off, the Sunday 1st XI had a good win against South Wilts in the Cross-Solent League. South Wilts won the toss and chose to bat, but were kept in check by all the Purbrook bowlers for the first 33 overs, when they were 116-5. They did accelerate in the last 7 overs, finishing on 189-6.

Purbrook were more or less level on run rate for the first 19 overs, when they were 51-2, but then they, too, accelerated. James Iles scored 63, Jimmy Repsold 74 n.o. and Alan Hellyer hit a quick 29 n.o. at the end, finishing off the proceedings with two fours at the beginning of the 39th over.
