Gosport won the toss and put Purbrook in. Matt Colban(3) and Jack May(1) opened the innings, but some sleepy running saw them both run out and back in the hutch for a snooze.
This left David Butler and Carl Marsh to pick up the pieces. This they duly did and Purbrook were a more respectable 45 for 2 off 6 overs largely due to intelligent pushing and running from Carl Marsh.
Disaster struck again as Monaghan bowled David Butler (9) and Ben Pay (0) in three balls.
Jared Carter started sleepily. He was nearly stumped on several occasions. He had a lucky escape when he was clearly stumped only to discover that the square-leg umpire had been staring into the opposite court at the time and was oblivious to the stumping.
Jared Carter did warm to his task and reached a competent 13 before being bowled by Quest. This left Carl Marsh ease the total to 91 for five and his score to a personal best of 29 n.o.
When Gosport started their reply, Purbrook didn't seem "up for it" in the field. The bowling was reasonably straight and Purbrook didn't bowl a wide until the fifth over. However, poor fielding meant they never applied any pressure and Gravells and Regan both retired as Gosport reached 62 off 6 overs.
Gosport scented victory and began to accelerate. Jack May caught Jenkins off Jared Carter, but Gosport reached 94 for 1 to win in the ninth over.
The bowling figures were: Matt Colban (3-25-0), David Butler (2-19-0), Jared Carter (3-36-1) and Jack May (1-14-0).
Purbrook: Matt Colban, David Butler, Jared Carter, Carl Marsh, Ben Pay, Jack May.
