Purbrook were put into bat after losing the toss. After his week of cricket on the Isle of Wight Thomas opened for Purbrook and he looked in good shape. His partner Jones who was not in good shape, carrying a back strain was bowled after facing just 10 balls for 1 run, 12 for 1 off 3 overs. Middleton joined Thomas and after last weeks run out in the first over, Middleton was on fire, a lofted drive over the bowler nearly going for 6 was the highlight of his innings, just 24 balls and he retired on 26. Next man Haran partnered Thomas and both lads eased the runs along, with 26 runs Thomas retired. Slugger Bennett strolled out to the crease had a look round at the fielding positions and his first ball is fired straight to the boundary. Nothing like getting your eye in early! 9 balls and 12 runs and Bennett was bowled going for the big one, 94 for 2 off 16. In went 6th man Budd, had a chat with Haran about the wicket. 4 balls later after being run out he had another chat with Haran, possibly not about the wicket though, 109 for 3 off 18. 7th man Butler put on 2 as Haran retired on 28 off 32 balls. Dyer joined Butler to see out the innings. Purbrook innings 119 for 3.
The Locks Heath openers were straight into the attack, and then Purbrook strike with White caught behind off Bennett, 16 for 1 off 4. 3rd man in was Pilgrim he fell to the same trap as his Captain caught behind off Bennett, 26 for 2 off 6. Roache ambled out to the crease and with Mills the pair set about putting on some runs both lads retired on 25 and 26 respectfully, Roache made his 25 from just 21 balls. Adams partnered by Copley until being bowled by Butler late in the innings, never got into any rhythm, and went for 2, 102 for 3 off 18. 7th man Swindells with 5th man Copley had 12 balls to get 18 runs, Copley had a damn good go at it he finished on 22 not out, Swindells 2 not out. Purbrook allowed Locksheath to get 15 more runs than they should of, they came courtesy of over throws. 10th over saw wicket keeper Thomas come off with a knee injury, Marsh stepped into the hot seat.
